Not long ago I believed that success was that I did well in business, had enough money to indulge in some life’s pleasures and above all, to have attained happiness; that I could travel and take a break whenever I wanted ... does that make sense to you?
Well, it stopped making sense to me; I thought a lot about how to make money. I have never been someone afraid of losing everything and starting over again, it is actually something I had to face; but back then I pretty much worked without rest in a full-time job, plus my business, and there was even a time when I was a bartender at social events on weekends.
There came a time when I saw myself in the mirror and I looked old… I had neglected my health, my physical state; in short, I did not like what I saw. I started spending more time on myself: reading, exercising, taking courses. I decided to invest more time to think how to generate money with less hours of work, in other words, I asked myself, "how can I put both things to produce: money and mind?"
And then one day the definition of "success" changed completely for me, I began to modify my concepts of"happiness"and"purpose" ;in that order (you can read about them in previous posts). So, I got to the third point, wondering, what is success then?
It was very simple for me once I had defined my mission in life, which is why I understood that success is being able to share, teach and help the people around you. Success is getting up every morning and being thankful for one more day, and going to bed satisfied for that day.Success is never settling, never giving up, but enjoying the journey; being a person who sets goals and who, despite fear, acts.
Success is knowing that the more you give, the more you receive.
I am not at odds with money, on the contrary, I consider it a tool to achieve more goals. A successful person for me is one who does not stop wanting more, who is dissatisfied, but who enjoys what he or she has and what he or she is achieving.
Any conformist thinking is unacceptable in the mind of a person seeking success. He or she should also recognize their limitations and be interested in constantly improving themselves; in short, a successful person is one who holds an endless search for their best version.
I look forward to talking to you about what financial success is. Because it is true that by having achieved a certain economic stability, many will say that you are very successful, but perhaps you have not been successful in other areas of life. Unfortunately, if you just stay there, you will see that no matter how much money you manage to have, you will never feel satisfied.
I propose a 360 view of success, that we all understand that success is being able to reach your best version in all areas of life: family, friends, personal growth, financial, health and education.
It should be clear to us that success is not a destiny; success, as happiness, is a state of mind where we put aside any negative thought, where we do not allow ourselves to be influenced by victimhood, fear or mediocrity.
A successful person assumes his or her responsibility and manages to, through leadership, influence other people to find a better version of themselves.
A book I really liked that talks about this topic is:
